Guess it Just isn't for Me

To think I always enjoy watching Dora and Diego, especially if I watch with my nephew Baby Aliq.

But why does the interview for the job I want (comm. officer) had to be on the last day of the training I'm assisting? And that interview cannot be rescheduled? When I'm just at home bored, nobody calls. When I have something to do, something else comes up that I cannot say yes to (like another training this week that could have pushed through 2weeks ago). Nickelodeon would've been fun, I've always been a kid at heart.

Fine, fine, interview doesn't necessarily mean getting the job, but it would've been nice to be considered. Oh well, you can't have it all.
To think I was planning to sing Diego's theme song during my interview, lol!

Kapariz Facis 25March2009

blurred ang complete eh

More than a decade of friendship with crazy people from different Universities in the Philippines. See NRYLI wasn't so bad, we all met through it. hahaha.

I almost didn't go because of the unfortunate traffic accident I was in at noon, but good thing I did because I had so much fun. I have never laughed that much in ages. Sobrang salamat! These guys made me forget, atleast for a night, about car and work issues. :)

Thanks to the Chang family for hosting the despedida dinner for Ate Thex. Sana maulit muli, kahit walang aalis at walang umuwi. At sana mas complete. We are missing a few people who have made the night even more crazy.

Please, Explain and/or Comment

TV has been my constant companion these days and there are a lot of things I see on it, mostly on free TV, that just make me  react. Sorry if I’ll disappoint some of you because this is not an intellectual entry that asks an explanation about the various things that have recently happened in the country (e.g. Jalosjos being set free, the whole “Nicole” situation, “developments” in the Dacer murder, etc). Honestly, I am at a lost for words to describe my disgust for many of the things that are in the news so maybe next time.

I’ll focus on the more “jologs” things I see on TV and ask for your own opinions. This is majorly for fun, so no UBERLY serious and violent reactions people – wag kayong masyadong OA at Corny!

1) That new PH Care Ad
Girl dates this new guy, and she likes him. They go on another date and she’s so worried, because on this date she’ll meet his friends and apparently he is
“bringing” his exGF on that date. And so girl is worried and it is therefore important that she uses PH care on this particular day.

ANO DAW?! First of all if you are dating a new guy and he is “bringing” (exact term – BRINGING- they used in their tarps all over the metro) his EX, that’s SO WRONG. Be afraid, I think he is just on a rebound and wants to make her jealous, etc.

And when friends meet a new girl (or boy) in their friend’s life, how your private part smells is not exactly what they look into on that gathering. And I can understand how one might worry if her armpits smell, because other people can smell that easily, but down there – nobody really bends to check if you smell there. And if you smell that bad down there that it smells without people bending and getting close to it – Be Very Afraid! See a doctor asap.

More than anything else – ang normal na tao, naghuhugas araw-araw para sa sariling pangkalinisan, di lamang para sa special occasions. Ano buzz!?
Paki balik na lang si Ate Shawie na hawak-hawak lang ang PH Care, it works way better.

2) TANG Fruit Teaz Ad
My sister told me that it was a copy of some 200 artists who did it in Central Station in New York(
NYCentralStationFreeze). People just suddenly stopped for about 5 minutes and people looked and stared. Bongga nga naman, intriguing nga yun in a very busy station and with 20 people doing that for a period of 5mins.

So a very creative and very “original” ad agency decided
to use it to LAUNCH  their new instant Iced Tea. Iced tea with fruit flavors; with a line that is something like “Ibang Klaseng Tea, Ibang Klaseng Trip.” The Ad had 5 (yes, lima lang) kids take a gulp of the new iced tea and plan to do it in a mall. To stop for like 10seconds (kasi 30 seconder lang naman yung Ad). And after they do it, they are super happy and think they are super cool and drink more of the iced tea.

OK, I’m supposed to be immensely excited by that and have me run toward the nearest store to get me that new iced tea?! Seriously?! Wala akong naintindihan. Isa syang “BLEECH” na Ad. Waste of money, to think LAUNCH ito ha.

It’s SUMMER, you could have had the kids run outside, play a new sport or an Old Pinoy Game (which is not uso so ibang Trip yun di ba),have them sweat and have them drink the iced tea served by their parents who are so happy because this is a healthy drink. Ok fine, it’s Not at all Creative. But I think people can understand more that this drink is “cool” and can quench your thirst, it is healthy and it appeals to kids.

Yun lang. ANG PANGIT talaga nya! Manggagaya ka na lang ng gawa ng iba, ayusin mo naman and MAKE IT BETTER.

3) ABS Summer09 ID
SUNOG sya. I was trying to adjust our TV watching the launch earlier today, thinking it’s our telly that has problems. But the lighting was ok before the summer AVP and it’s ok in the other channels. Conclusion- sunog ang naiplay nila kanina. I’m only pertaining to the one they used earlier when they launched it because when I looked for it on youtube, it wasn’t as overexposed, although I still think medyo OA sa “summer” sunog ang entire ID.

But Thumbs Up to the message of “paggalaw/pagkilos” in the ID. And add some socially relevant situations (kahit na you know di naman sa totoong buhay ginagawa nila yun) in the AVP, like cleaning up trash, helping in GK, taking care of animals, etc.

But the biggest question of all, which I need explanation – where is the MEGASTAR in the summer ID? I didn’t just miss her because I watched it again on youtube and no Ate Shawie there. Why, Bakit, Ngano, Porque, Imba?

Aga(who I love because he was a crush, let it be noted) and Martin do not have regular TV shows in ABS and they were there - buy my Ate Sharon was not there? Aba, aba, aba. Magpaliwanag kayo sa prisinto?! I don’t care if she’s busy or something, people should have moved heaven and earth to make sure she was on the ID. Hmp!

Still in Disbelief but RIP FrancisM

We visited FrancisM's wake before the 730AM mass this morning. We went to church a bit early for the mass so we can visit and finally make myself believe that the Master Rapper was gone. The 6AM mass ended late, the people were just leaving the main church as we arrived so there was a bit of a line to the public viewing. I was afraid I would cry, the number of people present helped I guess. It's quite embarrassing to burst into tears among those people, especially since Francis and I didn't even know each other.

Last Pic I took of FrancisM in November2007

I admired Pia's (Magalona) statements over at Eat Bulaga yesterday noon. She showed much strength in this time of loss. And she reminded us, me ,of how Francis lived his life to the fullest and how much love and inspiration he was and still is to millions of us Filipinos. But it is still is quite sad to know that we have lost such a marvelous, passionate "hero" and inspiration in our midst.

I can only hope that this new young generation can find someone new, someone like Francis who can move them, touch them and inspire them to be proud of who they are and work for the betterment of their country. Rest in Peace Idol!

MGA KABABAYAN!

Mga kababayan ko
Dapat lang malaman nyo
Bilib ako sa kulay ko
Ako ay pilipino
Kung may itim or may puti
Mayron naman kayumangi
Isipin mo na kaya mong
Abutin ang yung minimithi

Dapat magsumikap para tayoy di maghirap
Ang trabaho mo pagbutihin mo
Dahil pag gusto mo ay kaya mo
Kung kaya mo ay kaya nya
At kaya nating dalawa

Magaling ang atin
Yan ang laging iisipin
Pag asensyo mararating
Kung handa kang tiisin
Ang hirap at pagod sa problema
Wag kang malunod

Lahat tayoy magkakapatid
Anong mang mali ay ituwid
Magdasal sa diyos maykapal
Maging banal at wag hangal
Itong tula ay alay ko
Sa inyo at sa buong mundo

Three Stars and Sun Francis M!

"I love Francis M. And I love his sense of nationalism, his passion for the country and his love for music." - December 4, 2008 entry.

I ended my entry about FrancisM's store last December this way. My sister thoughtfully drove all the way to broadway and actually got me a 3stars and sun shirt for Christmas.

I know that I often blame my Jesuit education for my idealism, my sense of national development and being "persons for others." But way before I have realised the Jesuits' strong influence in me(college ko na siguro na realise eh), I knew that this "pogi", charming and way Cool rapper (when I was still in HS) has defined how I look at my country and my role as its citizen; that even though I was young, I was part of the "kabataan," I have so much responsibility and there is so much that I can do. He was my living RIZAL (rizalista kasi talaga ako), my personal hero and yes one of my ultimate crushes. I can only wish that in the many generations to come, one my favorite songs of his continue to help influence the youth to do their part in nation rebuilding.

KABATAAN PARA SA KINABUKASAN

Kapag ang tao'y masipag, tumatatag ang buhay,
nagsusumikap kahit mahirap, ialay
puso'y manggaling
Nasa palad mo ang kapalaran,
kabataan para sa kinabukasan
Oras ay ginto, gamitin ng mahusay,
dahil and oras ay walang hinihintay
Peace-Kapayapaan
Nature-Kalikasan
Children-Kabataan
Kabataan, kalikasan para sa kinabukasan,
iwasan ang pagkakamaling ating naranasan
Oras nang magtubos, daig natin 'wag sayangin,
'wag hayaang maubos
Oras na para kumilos (Make a stand)
Magkapit bisig para sa daigdig (Hand in hand)
Mulat na kabataan ang sagot,
'wag masasangkot sa ipinagbabawal na gamot
Kundi'y gamitin ang talino,
maging tunay na bayani, makabagong Pilipino
Sulong kabataan, ipakita ang lakas,
tunay at wagas na pag-asa ng bukas

Nasa palad mo ang kapalaran,
kabataan para sa kinabukasan
Oras ay ginto, gamitin ng mahusay,
dahil and oras ay walang hinihintay

I believe the last time I saw him in person (up close) was about 4-5 years ago, when Jope asked me to tag along with his class to a live Eat Bulaga (don't ask me what it was for, I really can't remember, ask jope, alam ko lang Una Magalona was his student). Kyla, Jope's ultimate showbiz crush - up to now I believe, was a guest and so we stormed the backstage for him to have a pic with her. But I wanted a pic with Francis M. Ang laki ng ngiti ko sa picture namin na yun, which di ako sure if may kopya ako, hmm. It might be in my old laptop. Haay, i'm so affected, as if i'm a relative.

Rest in Peace FrancisM! I'll continue to sing and live out your songs of nationalism and pride. 3 stars and a Sun!

Feeling Artsy

I didn't have computer all day today so I decided to clean the shelves in the house, more particularly dust the center table and arrange my stuff. I also planned to clean my storage space at the kitchen area and look into my boxes as I have been searching for my watercolor book for ages.

I found my watercolor set and brushes (but I still can't find my book!). Then I also found my pastel set and my pastel pencils which I was looking for last Christmas, I thought someone stole them. Turns out they were in a plastic inside the upper storage of Tet's closet. Nice! And I found paper presents, one pad for pastel from TQ Christmas of 2005 and one pad of watercolour paper from Ate Maita for my bday of 2006.

Mang Dodong had to put in the new faucet for the Kitchen Sink so while I waited...

I drew and painted. I haven't drawn and painted in like 2 years and it felt quite nice. I am doing a set of art works which come in a set of 4 but can come out as individual pieces (ok maybe not, feeling ko lang, hahaha). I want to do them in 3 mediums - chalk pastel, charcoal and watercolour. But I am such a beginner in watercolor and it is so  frustrating that I don't have my guidebook. I hope I find it soon, I have been wasting expensive paper.

Back to my FIRST LOVE
For aspiring photographers, you might want to read this link below which my friend Paolo shared. It's a good, simple read and explains very simply how things work in a SLR camera. I'm sure you'll find this quite informative.
