A KIND 2010

This time last year I was envisioning a LEGENDARY 2009. A year far greater than the previous ones, a year of wonder and joy.

I was borrowing Barney's, not the purple dinosaur but the character from How I Met Your Mother, expression of how events he would plan would always be LEGEN--- wait for it--- DARY! :) That was the mantra, that was the hope and I was using what they say the book, THE SECRET, suggests - To verbalize the future you want while working for it.

Honestly (and personally), 2009 wasn't (and hasn't been) the GREAT year that I had hoped it would be. It was I guess, to a certain extent "one for the legends" as it was filled with much news that would be retold in the future. Sadly though, most were sad and unfortunate news - news we could do without if we had a choice. Don't you think 2009 was just a bit UNKIND?

I will not re tell and in detail all the sad stories but the year for one took so many lives. Lives of people I have personally met and worked with; celebrities I have admired and have been sources of inspiration to millions of people; loved ones of people I consider as my loved ones because they are my friends; lives of innocent victims of calamities that hit the country; lives of innocent victims who were brutally murdered to death. (this paragraph is such a downer)

It wasn't very kind to the economy as well. I have heard of friends being laid off, because of economic reasons, both here in the country and those working abroad. I also know of small businesses that closed and declared bankruptcy.  A lot of controversies about supposed leaders and "models" were also reported making us question their integrity and having less people to look up to.

Personally, I  was technically JOBLESS for the first half of the year. I had my own share of "Rejections" that not only bruised my ego but also questioned my past choices in life. I don't think I ever questioned my choice of course in college and my choices of past jobs much until 2009. I also got sick a few good times; one time I had a semi-dengue scare and needed to have blood test everyday for almost a week. In terms of my career; in term of my travel plans;  it wasn't the Kind of Year I was truly hoping for.

On a lighter side - our greatest gift last year was my 2nd Nephew ZAYEED who was born on the 10th of July.  And we had little joys as well, which I didn't forget to be thankful for.

Coming from 2009 though, as I usher in the new year, my first wish is that for this new year to be more KIND to us especially to those who have lost a lot this year. Just that, a KIND 2010. Then we can work from that, I'm sure with a Kind year, we can paint our and work toward our personal GREAT and FABULOUS NEW YEAR.

A Kind New Year to Us All! :)
